This past Monday, May 2nd, we had our Vicarage Placement Service at the seminary. I was placed as the vicar of St. Thomas Lutheran Church in Ohio City, Oh. This is great news for several reasons.
First:
I get to learn under the guidance of Pastor Sims, a retired District President who has years of experience. And I get to have the experience of serving a good solid church.
Second:
Cyan gets to keep teaching at Central Lutheran for at least two more years. She loves it there, and they love her, so it's a win for everyone.
What does this mean? It means we're going to move to New Haven just on the east side of Fort Wayne and be just a couple miles from Central. This will make Cyans commute shorter for the next two years, and my commute for vicarage will be cut in half. Fourth year when I return to the classroom, my commute will be just about the same as Cyan's was these past two years. So the location, in the long run is much better. Also, we'll (hopefully) have a house with a little more room and a yard for the boys to play in. It's going to be wonderful.
So good news all around!
We're thanking God for such a wonderful placement for me and all my classmates at the Seminary, and also for the great calls the fourth year students received on Tuesday. The Lord certain sustains his Church and blesses those within it.
